Get ready root beer fans. It’s almost time for Glendale’s 2021 Root Beer Bash, which takes place on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richard E Maslowski Community Park at 2200 W. Bender Rd.
The Root Beer Bash is a free, outdoor family friendly festival which celebrates Glendale’s unofficial status as the “Root Beer Capital of the Universe” (read: home to Sprecher Brewing Co.)
Here’s what’s brewing
During the Bash, guests can enjoy a wide variety of root beer themed foods, drinks, snacks and desserts created expressly for the event, plus Sprecher Brewing’s award-winning sodas and beer on tap.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. families can enjoy children’s activities or feed the animals at Farmer Dan’s petting zoo, including baby goats, rabbits, pigs, ducks and a donkey named “Root Beer.”
At 3 p.m., David Stokes will entertain the wee ones with his “Laughing with the Animals” show featuring live frogs, turtles, snakes, and fish.
Guests can also enjoy a classic car show (until 3 p.m.), an appearance from the Daley Dubutantes Baton and Drump Corps at 1:15 p.m. and the Great Sprecher Floatilla from 3:30 to 5 p.m., featuring free root beer floats sponsored by Sprecher Brewery and Cedar Crest Ice cream.
Music will be provided by acts including the Random Maxx Band, DJ Luke Warm, and headliner Brett and the Dandy’s at 5 p.m.
