Outpost Natural Food Cooperative is organizing The Great 48, a 48-mile store-to-store bike ride on Saturday, Sept. 8. The ride is open to seasoned and casual bike riders and sends participants down open roads to each of the grocery store's five locations.

A stop on the ride
The ride is social and snacky.

The ride starts at 7 a.m. at the Bay View location, 2826 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. 

Participants receive a cinch backpack filled with goodies, and will be able to take advantage of snacks and beverages at each stop. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mequon location.

An after-party is planned at the start/finish in Bay View where riders can win prizes from local sponsors as well as a chance to win a brand new REI Co-op Cycles CTY 1.1 bike.

Jason McDowell Creative Director

Jason McDowell grew up in central Iowa and moved to Milwaukee in 2000 to attend the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

In 2006 he began working with OnMilwaukee as an advertising designer, but has since taken on a variety of rolls as the Creative Director, tackling all kinds of design problems, from digital to print, advertising to branding, icons to programming.

In 2016 he picked up the 414 Digital Star of the Year award.

Most other times he can be found racing bicycles, playing board games, or petting dogs.
