From the ninth floor at the wonderful new Saint Kate in Downtown Milwaukee, I had the opportunity to talk with Chris Messina this week. Messina, among many other things, invented the hashtag. Yes, THE hashtag. #hashtaginventor. And his story on why and how he did it is beautiful. Truly, if you love the essence of who we are as humans – community seekers – you’ll really enjoy his story.

Messina is a main stage presenter Saturday at Fall Experiment. And should you go see him (which you should), you’ll hear even more about his deep and actionable thoughts around digital, community and technology.

In the meantime, we talked about a lot of other stuff from TV to Twitter to books and success. So, check out my Twitter Live with Chris Messina here.

And, get Fall X tix now – or ask nicely and we may have a few more to give away.

A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.

He grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Marquette University, as a Warrior. He holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University, and is the founding president of Young Professionals of Milwaukee (YPM)/Fuel Milwaukee.

He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.

He also thinks you should read OnMilwaukee each and every day.
