Milwaukee is always a hotbed of activity, whether it includes the closing of a popular custard chain or the addition of a new patio that's perpetually packed.

Bridges and streets are reopening, and even the disappointing Brewers are showing a little life. And, one state west, Brett Favre is showing his age.

In this subjective and light-hearted article, we take Milwaukee's temperature for September 2010.

Did we get it right? Did we get it wrong?

Sizzling:

Horny Goat -- Spectacular patio scene this summer and fall.
Iron Horse Hotel
-- Wins "Boutique Hotel of the Year" award.
Packers -- Starting off strong. Linebacker Clay Matthews and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are looking good.

Hot:
Cassandra McShephard -- TV newcomer Cassandra McShepard is keeping it real on Fox 6's new "Real Milwaukee."
Humboldt Bridge -- Finally!
Brewers' pitcher Randy Wolf -- The Brew Crew’s mediocre this season, but Wolf is h-o-t.
Alterra on Prospect's new look --
Now with bi-level seating. Nice.
Spin Milwaukee -- Is ping pong the new bowling?  Even if it's not, Spin is off to a strong start.
Bango -- The new Bucks season hasn't even begun, but Bango just nabbed NBA Mascot of the Year and a segment on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel."

Warm:
New buses -- Way more comfy and eco-friendly, but will you ride one?
NBC's "The Event" -- Offers "Lost" viewers a new confusing, convoluted mystery to argue over.
Leaves
-- Starting to offer up the famous "fall colors."
Street Food
-- Seemed like the craze was waning, but new options -- like Korean tacos -- keep cropping up.
Sink Hole -- North Avenue at Oakland has one lane of traffic open.  But work in the area continues and is arguably moving at a slow pace.

Cool:

Mizu -- More delivery sushi on the East Side is exciting, but this place needs to bring it up a notch.
"Lost" -- The show is over, but not entirely forgotten. Ask Weezer.

Cold:
Silk East and Satin exotic dance clubs -- Not happening.
Road construction season
-- Make it stop.

Sub-zero:
Brett Favre -- Hang it up, buddy.
Bella's Fat Cat -- Hopefully not for good, but for now, Bella’s is closed.
