With just over a week before he was expected to take the stage, Justin Bieber and Summerfest announced today that the pop star's Big Gig headliner show on Friday, June 24 has been postponed.

Late last week, Bieber posted a video to Instagram explaining to fans that he would have to cancel several upcoming performances due to a case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a viral infection causing half of his face to become paralyzed. And now Summerfest is among those nixed concerts – though the announcement says the show is postponed for now and not entirely canceled.

"In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining U.S. Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July, including at Summerfest at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, WI on Friday, June 24, 2022 will be postponed," reads the statement from tour promoter AEG Presents. "Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer."

Today's news marks the third time Bieber's Big Gig show has been removed from the Summerfest schedule. The "STAY" and "Peaches" singer was first expected to headline the Big Gig in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the music festival that year. The pop star's appearance was then pushed to 2021 – but with the ongoing pandemic and Summerfest's shift to September, Bieber's tour stop was once again pushed back a year, this time to June 24. And now that date is no more as well.

According to Summerfest, details on a rescheduled Bieber concert will be released shortly. Tickets for all rescheduled dates will be honored at that show, and fans who bought tickets will also receive a digital Summerfest admission ticket, valid for any day of the 2022 Big Gig. Refunds can also be obtained at the point of purchase once the rescheduled date is determined. For more information, visit Summerfest's website

Summerfest's plans for an American Family Insurance Amp headliner act for Friday, June 24 have yet to be announced. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more updates – and for the rest of the updated Summerfest schedule, click here.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
