About a month ago I wrote about a new rum in the Milwaukee market. It's called Kilo Kai and it's a spiced rum that incorporates palatable amounts of vanilla, banana, cherry, nutmeg and orange peels.

Toward the end of March several local bars picked it up, but if you still haven't had a chance to try it, there's a Kilo Kai "Take No Prisoners" launch party Sunday, April 20, at Moct, 240 E. Pittsburgh Ave. Milwaukee's Diamonds (of The Glamour) and Chicago's Flosstradamus are the DJs.

You need a ticket to get in, so email rep Julie Lu: Julie.Lu@allterrain.net to get on the list.

Here are a number of places in the area to get Kilo Kai.:

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
