Some of the most sought-after – and pricey – beer at Lakefront Brewery is the barrel-aged Beerline Barleywine.

Typically, Lakefront bottles the extremely limited brew and sells it at the brewery for what it admits is, “big bucks" (that's supply and demand!).

But right now, the brewery is handing off not only the beer but also its profits to local taverns and restaurants by selling the bottles of Beerline Barleywine to area venues for a mere $1 per bottle.

The taverns and eateries can then sell the bottles at $20 – and Lakefront is hoping customers who are able will offer retailers even more as a show of support – keeping that profit to help get through these difficult times.

“It’s our intention to let the bars have all the profit,” said Lakefront President, Russ Klisch. “We sold it to them for a dollar a bottle but are encouraging folks to purchase those same bottles for $20. If we can’t help them out with beer, we can’t do anything!”

More than 100 cases – just under 2,600 12-ounce bottles – of the sought-after brew have hit area bars and restaurants.

The 13.4 percent ABV beer has been aging in rye whiskey barrels for more than three years and has developed a rich melange of smoky toffee and molasses and sweet figs.
