With a Starbucks in hand, Lauren Conrad visited Boswell Book Company, 2559 N. Downer Ave., on Wednesday for a meet-and-greet and book signing for her novel "Infamous: A Fame Game Novel," the last book of The Fame Game series.
Before book signing began, Conrad took part of Kohl's Cares Charity by having a private meet-and-greet with three young teens from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. She treated them to hand-picked outfits from Conrad's collection, sold by Kohl's. The teens also received shoes and discussed fashion trends and beauty advice with Conrad.
Conrad has been working with Kohl's since 2009. She said the retailer is a good partner and respects her opinion, not just in the design of the clothes but also in the marketing plans.
"They really let me be hands-on," she told OnMilwaukee.com. "I am a little bit of a control freak and they've allowed me to do that which is important to me because my brands very important to me."
After the meet-and-greet, a surprising power outage occurred due to bad weather. Unable to regain power for over an hour, fans couldn't get personal photos with Conrad.
The storm, however, did not stop her fans from waiting outside in the rain to meet her and get their book signed.
Between writing bestselling books, starring in multiple TV series and designing her own clothing lines, Conrad has achieved a lot for being in her 20s. She said the pressure of being responsible for others has helped her not get easily distracted.
"The thing about the entertainment industry is that you have to grow up very quickly," she said. "When you mess up it's not just on you, you have a whole team behind you. Your decisions effects a lot of people, so I think that pressure helps me stay focused."
With the Fame Game series now over, Conrad said she would like to continue writing but as of right now is unsure what her next project will be.
