It's hard to come back to work after a long Thanksgiving weekend, but at least we've all got great things to look forward to in the coming week. Allow the the OnMilwaukee.com / WMSE Local Music Podcast to break down the details of your week in Milwaukee music.
The Rebuilts do the rockabilly right at the Cactus Club this Friday, Nov. 30. There'll be plenty from last year's "Four on the Floor" EP, including "Sad Little Girl," which you can hear on this podcast. If you go, you'll also have the pleasure of seeing Evenstar and Breathe Fire.
That same night at Stonefly Brewing Co. you have the rare opportunity to see Sindoolaa, a drum and dance ensemble formed by Milwaukeean Oumar Sagna. The group has dancers and drummers from Senegal and Milwaukee, and they "stimulate the senses with the exotic colors, movements, and sounds of West Africa." Showtime is 10 p.m.
If you're not into rockabilly or African dance, how about jazzy funk jam bands? Space out with Alpha Transit on Friday night at the BBC's Upper Level venue. The band released "Transit Music" earlier this year so there'll be plenty of new comic jazz for a long night of live music.
Long time local band Freshwater Collins is back on the scene and playing a show this Saturday, Dec. 1 at Shank Hall after playing live on FM 102.1 with Kramp and Adler on Friday, Nov. 30 at 9:30 p.m. Freshwater released "These Days Lately" in 2005, followed up by "So Much For Livin'" in 2006, but Myspace.com tells us the band's got some new material to share. Also on the bill -- Will Phalen and the Stereo Addicts.
Of course, everybody loves options, so we'll tell you about a couple other shows happening that we just couldn't fit into the podcast. Decibully's playing at the Cactus Club on Thursday, Nov. 29 with Testa Rosa and don't forget about Lotus Land's seven-year anniversary party at The Mad Planet on Saturday, Dec. 1, the details of which are right here.
