When local radio stations have the opportunity to cover events, where the music and lifestyle fit within the core likes of its intended audience, it is a simple no-brainer.

That’s why WLUM-FM 102.1 is taking the staff south to cover Lollapalooza 2013 this weekend in Chicago.

Jon Adler, Michelle, Jacent Jackson, Ian McCain, Ryan Miller, and John Schroeder will all be at Grant Park to cover the festival.

The Killers, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Two Door Cinema Club, Tegan and Sara, Alt-J, Foals, Smith Westerns, Atlas Genius, Wavves, Robert Delong, twenty one pilots and The Mowgli’s are scheduled to perform.

"We are excited to bring the Lollapalooza experience to Milwaukee this weekend, connecting our listeners with the artists, the stories, and the vibe that make Lollapalooza a special experience for Alternative and Indie music fans," said programming director Jacent Jackson.

Live coverage will start at 2 p.m. today through Sunday, and more content will be available online and on the station’s Facebook page.

NICKELODEON: Milwaukee area native Mary Kate Steinmiller will be interviewed by Nick Cannon tonight on the premier episode of "TEENNICK with Nick Cannon" on Nickelodeon.

Steinmiller, the market fashion editor of Teen Vogue will be talking about the magazine’s "Back To School Saturday" event. The show airs at 9 p.m.

PERFORMANCE: The musical group Fifth Harmony, an ensemble that finished third on the last season of "The X Factor," will be performing on "Fox and Friends" on the Fox News Channel on Monday.

The singers will discuss their tour and album as well as perform some of their best numbers starting around 7:50 a.m. Central.

ALTERNATIVES: If you are one of the people caught in the middle of the dispute between Time Warner Cable and Journal Communications, you may want to consider some viewing options of WTMJ-TV Ch. 4.

The lockout of the signal continues, as the sides still need to come to a resolution for the retransmission rights. You can follow along the debate here.

Richard Schneider, the founder of Antennas Direct, shared some information while making an appearance on "The Morning Blend" on WTMJ.

One of the biggest points he made is that many people don’t know that HD and other digital signals are available over the air. In our market, that’s close to 40 channels of programming that can be received with an antenna.

Now, you have to take the information on "The Morning Blend" for what it is. Some of the reports are informational items the show’s producers put together. Other segments are pay to play, meaning that the people appearing on the program paid to be on it.

However, as people seek options before the Packers preseason game slated for Aug. 9, one viable option could be capturing the over-the-air signal. The technology has come a long way in the decades since rooftop or attic antennas were the norm. You can see a number of antenna options with Antennas Direct  and there are a number of local retailers also available.

There are other ways to get the WTMJ broadcast, including other services like AT&T U-verse, DISH Network and DirecTV. And, you could always go to a local tavern that has one of those other services to take in the game.

This is far from a complete list of alternatives, and I don’t even get into online streaming sites or getting a Slingbox to help. But realize, there are alternatives here, including waiting it out until the sides come to an agreement.
