I was really bummed to read this on Facebook.

According to a post from less than an hour ago, Marchese's Olive Pit, 1100 S. 1st St., has closed.

The update reads, "We appreciate all of your support throughout the last 4 1/2 years! It's been a good run, but we have decided it is time to close our doors. We do this with great sadness and hope everyone has enjoyed the Olive Pit as much as we have, it's been great serving you all!"

Sisters-in-law Lisa and Gina Marchese opened the pizza restaurant in early 2007. Marchese's offered delicious, unique pizzas in a classy and comfortable setting. It will be missed.
