No, Milwaukee is certainly not New Orleans. But, the spirit of Mardi Gras will spread throughout the city tonight, and here are five places to take it all in.

1. 88Nine Radio Milwaukee Mardi Gras Party
Turner Hall,
1034 N. 4th St.

Milwaukee’s largest Mardi Gras celebration will take place at Turner Hall tonight. Herman Astros and Extra Crispy Brass Band will keep you movin’ and groovin’ all night. Your $14 admission will also get you dinner provided by Maxie’s and the city’s largest King Cake.

2. Maxie’s
6732 W. Fairview Ave.

Sample flavors from throughout the region all night tonight plus all the Hurricanes, Abita Beers and bourbon you can handle. Maxie’s will be open at 2 p.m. for you to start your party early in the heated outdoor tent with live bands and plenty of beads.

3. Riverwest Mardi Gras Parade Pub Crawl
Uptowner (starting bar)
1032 W. Center St.

If fire dancers and a band of costumed merriment makers is your thing, then the Riverwest Mardi Gras Pub Crawl could be the place for you tonight. It kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Uptowner, moves to the Gig, then Milwaukee Beer Bistro, over to Linemann's and ends at Art Bar.

4. Black Sheep
216 S. 2nd St.

The party gets started around 4 p.m. at Black Sheep in Walker's Point. Black Sheep will be serving locally sourced Jones Island Jambalaya and King Cake while you jam out to the sounds of ‘Nawlins. Try the Southern Comfort Hurricane drink or take advantage of beer specials all night.

5. Vitucci's
1832 E. North Ave.

The North Avenue bar Vitucci’s has decided to bring the Mardi Gras feeling to you in its newly updated bar. You can enjoy drink specials all night such as $4 Bacardi Mixers and $4 Soco Hurricanes.

Have fun, and be safe!

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
