A team of Marquette University undergrads are launching three coffee products as part of an applied learning program through Marquette University’s College of Business Administration.

The student-run business venture Blue & Gold Brewing LLC, will release its first coffee products in collaboration with Stone Creek Coffee. All three blends will be available for purchase as part of a limited-edition holiday gift box.

“Our team was excited to work with an established leader in the coffee space and revive the ‘Jesuit Joe’ brand,” said Elise Raschke, a member of the Blue & Gold coffee brewing team.

“We chose these three offerings through the themes of ‘Brew Tradition,’ ‘Brew Mission’ and ‘Brew Cheer.’ Bringing these products to market has been a great experience, and we look forward to sharing these coffees with the Marquette community and beyond.”

Featured coffees

Coffees that will be featured in the holiday gift boxes will include:

Jesuit Joe

Jesuit JoeX

This dark roast coffee made from Guatamalen coffee beans was originally brewed for the Marquette community in 2012. But the coffee has been reimagined for 2023 to include sweet dark chocolate notes and undertones of nut and citrus.

According to the team: “The delicate growing process of these Guatemalan beans reflects the attentive formation of Jesuit education on the minds and hearts of our students, past, present, and future. Start your day with a roast strong in flavor and Marquette values.”  Jesuit Joe will be a year-round offering.

Brew the Difference

Brew the Difference

This limited-edition light roast that features notes of creamy cashew, mandarin orange and cocoa powder. The coffee was inspired by both Marquette and Stone Creek’s mission to innovate the way institutions can give back to their communities.

According to the team, this coffee will “brighten your morning and fuel your next step to being the difference in your community.”

Santa’s Revenge

Santa's Revenge

This coffee features medium-roasted beans with notes of creamy cocoa and sweet figs along with a citrus-like acidity. The coffee is an annual offering from Stone Creek which will be packaged with Blue & Gold Brewing branding.

According to the team, this coffee is “best sipped in the comfort of your home while watching the reigning Big East champs.”

More about Blue & Gold

Blue & Gold Brewing LLC was launched in 2022 as a first-of-its-kind pilot program that involves students in every aspect of running a business from leading marketing research and developing products to advertising, marketing, distribution and more.

During its first year, a team of four undergraduate students released  ’77 Golden Ale, a private label, Marquette-affiliated craft beer for National Marquette Day 2023. A new Blue & Gold beer will be announced ahead of National Marquette Day on Feb. 10, 2024.

The partnership with Stone Creek will give the second-round team of students an opportunity to launch a year-round product line starting with Jesuit Joe. Revenue from product sales will be split among the student-run venture and the industry partners, with proceeds benefitting Marquette’s student-run ventures program.
