Have a cow, man. Why not? After all, it's Dairy Month here at OnMilwaukee.com. Join us all month long as we explore all things that make you go "Moo" and celebrate America's Dairyland during the Dairy Days of Summer! Brought to you by OnMilwaukee.com and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.

I had aspirations of eating a salad for lunch, but then I remembered it's the first weekday of OnMilwaukee.com's Dairy Month. This called for something dramatic.

I didn't really need that much of an excuse, actually, to check out Melthouse Bistro, 1857 N. Kenilworth Pl., which is, what, 50 yards from my office (as the crow flies). But I had never checked it out, so today was the day.

I consider myself a grilled cheese appreciator, though perhaps not an enthusiast. Still, "The Cheesehead," was pretty good. With Wisconsin provolone, aged sharp cheddar and muenster, as well as pesto aioli on whole wheat bread, it was quite a bit fancier than the sandwich I'd whip at home. And, at $6.95, it was a bit more expensive, too, but I enjoyed it.

Certainly, I won't make this a weekly lunch staple, but it's good to know that such comfort food is so close to my office (or is it?). Either way, color me impressed.
