Has the cold weather got you down? Do you wish, more than anything, that you could hop on your bike and pedal your cares away? Do you happen to own a Santa suit? If you said yes to all three questions, this is the perfect event for you.
For the past 17 years, the Santa Cycle Rampage event has biked across the city in the early winter. With people dressed in all sorts of holiday styles, in the air, there is definitely a feeling of Christmas. Children laughing, people passing, meeting smile after smile – and above all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, there you are, riding on your bicycle.
Rain or shine, the Santa Cycle Rampage will take off on Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 9:30 a.m. The ride, led by a police escort, starts at Cranky Al's Bakery on 69th Street and finishes up at Lakefront Brewery, after a leisurely ride down North Avenue. No word yet on whether or not you can bring your sleigh and reindeer.
For more information, check out the Santa Cycle Rampage website. Kids under the age of 18 ride for free, while for adults range from $25 to $101. You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why: Lots and lots of Santa Clauses are cycling through town.
