In perhaps one sign that hyper-local retail has truly made it online, pet boutique Metropawlis, 317 N. Broadway, announced in its regular e-mail last week that it was closing its Historic Third Ward location to focus exclusively on its online operations.

Geri and Augie Ray opened Metropawlis on Brady St. in 2003, but moved it to the Third Ward and sold it to current owner, Lindsey Peterson, last year.

Peterson said this in an e-mail, "We at Metropawlis have had the privilege of selling fun and unique pet products for the dogs and cats of Milwaukee for nearly eight years. So it is some sadness we are announcing that on Saturday June 26th we will be closing the doors of our Third Ward boutique. This was a difficult decision to make however in order to allow the for the growth of our busy online stores; JustPetStrollers.com and MetropawlisPetBoutique.com it was a necessary change."

Before Peterson closes her brick and mortar location, Metropawlis is holding several sales and freshening up some of its online operations.
