Quarters? Where we're going, we don't need quarters!
At least, that's the case if you're powering up at Wisconsin Center this weekend for the Midwest Gaming Classic, which features literally thousands of video game cabinets and pinball machines, both retro favorites and new classics, of all shapes, sizes and screens – all on free play mode. And that's far from all. There's also hundreds of board games, retro computers, a brand new Artist Alley, a cosplay competition – hosted by Svengoolie – live music, vendors and in-person industry icons across history.
Oh, and did we mention a freaking DeLorean from "Back to the Future"?
The gargantuan gaming get-together opened its doors Friday night, and during the bonanza of bleeps and bloops, we caught up with Midwest Gaming Classic co-founder Dan Loosen to chat about everything it has to offer. Take a look inside:
The Midwest Gaming Classic runs Saturday 10 a.m. through 8 p.m., as well as Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with tickets available on the event's official website. Sunday also marks Family Day at the convention, with tons of family-focused activities, admission only costing $25 and kids under 10 admitted for free.
Considering the weather this weekend, you're probably going to be stuck inside – so why not get stuck inside surrounded by seemingly every game ever invented?
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
