For two games in February, the Milwaukee Admirals are gonna need more cowbell, and they’ll certainly have a lot more of it.
On Thursday, the team announced that they’ll be donning special “Milwaukee Cowbells” alternate uniforms on February 25th and 28th.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the infamous Saturday Night Live “More Cowbell” skit, where Will Ferrell rocks out during the recording of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” the Admirals will have the special uniforms and the temporary team name. The Cowbells jersey was designed by Milwaukee agency Traction Factory.
The Admirals know a thing or two about having an alternate identity. Who could forget the sweet Milwaukee Fish Fry jerseys that the team wore for a pair of games in 2022?
In celebration of the cowbell on Tuesday, February 25th, the game will also feature a special guest appearance from SNL alum Chris Kattan, who played an integral role in the infamous cowbell sketch. That night is also a Summerfest Winning Weekday, where all fans receive a ticket to the next weekday game if the Admirals beat the Lehigh Valley Phantoms that night.
On Friday, February 28th, the cowbell theme keeps going, with the first 6,000 fans in attendance getting cowbells as the Admirals take on the Iowa Wild. It’s certainly going to be a noisy night in the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, and that’s before the division rivals take the ice.
If you’ve been to any Admirals home game, you’ve likely heard your fair share of cowbells. Fans are known to bring their own, ringing them for big saves or when the defense clears the zone while killing off a penalty. In fact, the Admirals have sold nearly 15,000 cowbells in the past decade alone. Put an extra 6,000 in the mix on the 28th, and you’ll be hearing them in your sleep that night.
Tickets for both the February 25th and February 28th games are available now via the Admirals website.
We’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is, more cowbell!
