It’s time to celebrate entrepreneurship in Milwaukee while offering support to Black-owned businesses. Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week kicked off today and continues through May 17.

It's the fifth year for the annual event which encourages diners to patronize Black-owned businesses throughout the city. Founded by BlankSpaceMKE, the event is sponsored this year by the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin.

Diners are encouraged to order ahead, pay with either a debit or credit card, and take advantage of curbside pick-up at a wide variety of restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines from Southern comfort food to Caribbean fare.

So go out, try a new place you've never been before and show up for our city!

To show your support for restaurants during Black Restaurant Week, visit any Black-owned restaurant and document your visit by posting a photo of your meal on social media using hashtags #MKEBlackEats #MBRW20
