Why you can't miss it

Six years ago, frontman Paul Janeway and bassist Jesse Phillips released what they thought would be the first and final project for St. Paul & The Broken Bones. It wasn’t. The EP’s songs were written around Janeway’s voice, and they gave new life to retro influences, like Otis Redding and Al Green. It earned them a record deal with Single Lock Records and a producer in Alabama Shakes keyboardist Ben Tanner for their debut album, "Half the City."

Fast forward to today, the eight-piece band is touring in support of their third album "Young Sick Camellia." Their fresh Southern soul is gaining momentum, with the band hitting number three on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart back in September. They’ve even caught the attention of industry legends opening for the Rolling Stones and singing along with Elton John at his Oscars viewing party. Known for their live shows, St. Paul & The Broken Bones will turn you into a diehard fan Sunday night. Fingers crossed for some staging diving.

Song starter pack

The Hit: "Broken Bones & Pocket Change"

The song that inspired the name of the band was recorded when Janeway was well on his way to becoming an accountant. Luckily its success ended his accounting career and launched his musical one.

The B-Side Beauty: "Waves"

Themes of Janeway’s internal conflict with his religious, southern upbringing are weaved throughout his music. This song is no exception. "Waves" embodies the conflict working in two parts. Give it a listen and wait for the gospel choir.

Can't Wait to See It Live: "Apollo"

"Apollo" is a lighthearted love song that explores previously uncharted avenues in their sound with R&B and hip-hop producer Jack Splash. Watch Janeway captivate viewers in a sequin cape on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
