The lip-smacking, mouth-puckering Sour Fest is back at MobCraft Beer in Walker’s Point for the sixth time on Saturday, March 30, from noon to 7 p.m., bringing a range of sours to the taproom, which is open 11-11 that day.
The free event will find not only wild and sour beers galore from the host brewery, 505 S. 5th St, but also examples from many other Wisconsin breweries ... more than 20 beers from 12 breweries on draft.
Those breweries include 1840 Brewing Company, Brewer’s Kitchen, Oliphant Brewing, Ope! Brewing Co., Pilot Project Brewing - Milwaukee, Radix Fermentation, Rookery Brewing Company, Sahale Ale Works, Supermoon Beer Company, Sway Brewing + Blending and Young Blood Beer Company.
MobCraft will also release its Sour Golden Ale Cherry oak-aged solera ale fermented with Saccharomyces and Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus and Pediococcus and refermented on cherries that day.
The 6.2 percent beer will be available on tap and in to-go cans.
MobCraft also promises some “sour surprises” at the fest.
“Sour Fest has become one of the beer fests we most look forward to hosting,” says MobCraft Founder and CEO Henry Schwartz. “Not only do we get to show off our deep Wild & Sour beer portfolio, but we are able to get together with so many of our brewery pals to showcase these styles of beer that we all love so much.
“This year’s lineup welcomes back many breweries from past Sour Fests as well as a few first timers. This year’s sour beer lineup is phenomenal whether you're a sour beer aficionado or just getting into the style.”
Sampling sessions include unlimited tastes and a commemorative glass. General admission sessions are 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. and are $50.
A VIP session starts the day from noon until 3 p.m. and is $65. It includes early admission to the bottle shop, which will be open to the public later.
Tickets for all three sessions can be purchased online here.
MobCraft will also have non-sour beers, seltzers and non-alcoholic drinks available all day.
"The Wild and Sour Sampling Sessions offer a really specialized beer fest experience focused on all of the best wild and sour beers Milwaukee has to offer,” says MobCraft Events Manager Elise Strupp.
“MobCraft is known for our sour program, and the Wild and Sour Sampling Sessions allow us to show off what we do best while showcasing other breweries who sour lovers may be less familiar with from all over the state."
