The Moth Mainstage comes to Turner Hall Ballroom on Wednesday, Sept. 16 for a night of storytelling in "Eyewitness: The Moth in Milwaukee."

The night will be focused on stories that explore truth in the eyes of the beholder, including epic battles, tough choices, false accusation and redemption.

Five local storytellers will share their personal, entertaining and enlightening stories, including John McGivern, Abbas Mousa, Shannon Cason, Danusia Trevino and OnMilwaukee’s Molly Snyder.

Award-winning author Dan Kennedy, who is also the host of The Moth’s podcast, will host the evening.

The Moth is a national not-for-profit organization that has presented more than 15,000 true stories through live storytelling since 1997.

The Moth Mainstage flagship program is a staple of literary and art scenes in New York City and Los Angeles, but also tours throughout the U.S. and abroad, where favorite storytellers from past Moth shows share the stage with local voices.

"Often storytellers take the listener to places, or through experiences, they may never get to encounter first hand. Even though the story may be wildly different from any experience the listener may have had, they still are able to relate to the emotions," says The Moth’s Meg Bowles.

"Eyewitness: The Moth in Milwaukee" starts at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at Turner Hall, 1040 N. 4th St. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at The Pabst box office or etix.com.
