On Thursday, Milwaukee Public Schools' Casimir Pulaski High School, 2500 W. Oklahoma Ave., will officially receive its authorization as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme school, joining 27 other schools in the state with that distinction.
More than 4,700 schools around the globe offer IB programming and, notes an MPS statement, "focus on developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will have the personal and professional skills to succeed in our modern, global society."
Pulaski is the eighth IB school in MPS, along with Academy of Accelerated Learning, Lowell International Elementary School, MacDowell Montessori School, Reagan College Preparatory High School, Rufus King International High School, Rufus King International Middle School and Wedgewood International Middle School.
"We are overjoyed to reach this milestone on the road to success for every student at Pulaski High School," said Pulaski Principal Lolita Patrick. "With ongoing support from our students, faculty, district colleagues and leaders, and the IB organization, we will continue this journey."
Interim MPS Superintendent Dr. Keith Posley and principals of other MPS IB schools will join Pulaski students, staff and families for the official celebration on Thursday, at 9 a.m. at the school.
