For many Milwaukeeans, brunch is a weekend ritual. But for those who spend Sundays working, whether they’re first responders, service industry staff, or anyone keeping the city humming, celebrating National Brunch Day (Sept. 21) isn’t always possible.
That’s why Café Corazón is extending the festivities with a special Monday brunch on Sept. 22 at its Riverwest location, 3129 N. Bremen St., running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We want to ensure everyone – first responders, doctors, nurses and all those in the service industry – can celebrate, too,” said co-owner Wendy Mireles. “It’s something we’re calling ‘National Brunch Day for the rest of us.’”
Guests can expect Corazon's delicious brunch with a little extra flair. On Sept. 22, the restaurant will open an hour earlier than usual (at 10 a.m.), bring in a live DJ and host a complimentary Tequila Sunrise toast at 11 a.m.
“We want to raise a glass to everyone who couldn’t celebrate with us on Sunday,” said co-owner George Mireles. “It’s our small way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who work Sundays, whether they’re keeping us safe, feeding or entertaining us, or working behind the scenes to make Milwaukee the great town it is.”
A must-try Milwaukee brunch
Brunch lovers will find plenty to enjoy at Corazón. Signature dishes include:
- Chilaquiles: fried strips of corn tortillas smothered in house-made red or green enchilada sauce
- Migas: eggs scrambled with tortilla strips, cheddar and your choice of protein
- Huevos Divorciados: two eggs served with red and green enchilada sauces, separated by Corazón’s famed beans and rice
Other favorites range from breakfast burritos, tacos and quesadillas to standouts like the Wet Breakfast Burrito, Vegan Tofu Scramble and the Pig Out Torta, a towering creation of pork pibil, bacon, fried egg, pickled onions, cheddar and chipotle aioli on a toasted telera bun.
Café Corazón serves brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at all three locations, with Riverwest extending the tradition on Monday, Sept. 22 and every Monday.
