After an extended closure due to COVID-19, Nine Below – the build-your-own mini golf bar located underground at 1905 E. North Ave. – has announced that it will be re-opening to the public with a refreshed space and expanded experience this November.
The unique golf experience assigns guests to an empty putting green with access to a fully stocked obstacle garden. From there, teams design their own creative mini-golf holes, resulting in a fun, customized golf experience.
“We already reinvented mini-golf as you know it with the ‘build-your-own mini-golf' concept,” notes David Poytinger, who owns the business with his wife Marla. “But this past year gave an unexpected opportunity to take Nine Below to the next level with a fully refreshed design.”
When the venue reopens, guests will be treated to an experience that’s enhanced by a variety of new aesthetic improvements, including the addition of murals painted by local artists, immersive décor, new interactive props and more.
Guests will also find a refreshed drink menu, plus the addition of build-your-own mini-golf rounds for kids ages 7 and older. Birthday party packages will also be available.
“Although we’re the only build-your-own mini golf bar in the world, we wanted to make it even more unique and immersive than it already was,” notes Poytinger. “If you walked down the stairs and were surprised by the energy and excitement before, just wait until you see it now.”
Conceived by parent company Bars & Recreation, Nine Below is just one of the group’s many local activity bars, including AXE MKE and NorthSouth Club.
