After taking time to settle into their new digs, Odd Duck, 939 S. 2nd St. (formerly in Bay View), will once again offer special culinary events.

First up is the Harvest Mushroom Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 29 followed by the return of their popular Halloween Feast on Monday, Oct 31. Both dinners will be multi-course meals with paired beverages.

“We haven’t actually done any in-person events like this since prior to the pandemic,” says co-owner Melissa Buchholz. “Last spring we were focused on re-opening for in-person dining, and then we spent the winter and spring of this year gearing up for and executing the move and the re-open.”

The Harvest Mushroom Dinner is an annual event that has been held at various restaurants by local mushroom farmer and forager Mike Jozwik of Mushroom Mike LLC. Jozwik will be present at the event to discuss mycology and will provide the fungi for the feast.

The dinner will feature five mushroom-focused courses with paired beverages, a pre-dinner reception and culinary surprises throughout for $175 per person. 

The Odd Duck chef team will be working in conjunction with friend and guest chef Cole Ersel of Milkweed Collective (formerly of Wolf Peach).

“Both Mike & Cole are great friends and awesome at what they do,” says co-owner Ross Bachhuber. “This dinner promises to be fun for the guests as well as for us in the kitchen."

Both dinners will be ticketed events and have traditionally sold out. Tickets for the Harvest Mushroom Dinner will go on sale Monday, Aug. 1 and Halloween Dinner tickets will be available Thursday, Sept. 1.

More details on the Halloween Dinner will be announced via social media in the next month or so. The dining room will be closed for regular dinner service on both special event evenings.

"Doing dinners like this allows us to experiment and collaborate, to exercise different culinary muscles. I am very excited to be back doing events like this," says Bachhuber.
