’Tis the season to donate food items for the hungry, and according to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Executive Director Patti Habeck, peanut butter is the healthiest and most appreciated food item to donate.

"Peanut butter is gold. It's not only a protein but it can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner and kids can make it safely for themselves if their parents or caregivers are working or not providing supervision," says Habeck.

OnMilwaukee will collect jars of peanut butter from local grocery stores, put donation boxes in local bars and restaurants and partner with businesses willing to give a discount to customers who donate a jar of peanut butter.

At the end of the drive, OnMilwaukee hopes to collect at least 999 jars to donate to Feeding America Southeastern Wisconsin.

Main sponsors include AJ Bombers – home of the peanut butter Barrie Burger – and the Peanut Butter and Jelly Deli (for obvious reasons.)

Feeding America Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading hunger relief organization in the state, operating food banks in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley. With a network of 600 member organizations, the organization provides food to 400,000 people each year.
