Pixologie, a locally owned photo digitization and organization service, is hosting a digital drop-off event on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 8:30 until 11 a.m., at Hudson Business Lounge, 310 E. Buffalo St. in the Third Ward.
Folks who bring their photos to be digitized will get 25 photos (flat, 8x10 or smaller) scanned for free, plus a free 8GB jump drive or a photo organization book.
"Many people have their photo mess and video/film collection on a to-do list that just never gets to be a priority," says photographer Dave Bernacchi, who works for Pixologie and has shot for OnMilwaukee for many years.
"In a nutshell we make it easy for people to do something with their memories. Pixologie offers photo organization, media digitization and backup services for customers to get their photos out of chaos and back into life to be celebrated, shared and passed on to future generations. We also work with companies and organizations to preserve their rich archives."
Pixologie – founded and owned by Ann Matuszak and Mollie Bartlett – has a studio at 9803 S. 13th St. in Oak Creek, but Bernacchi says the Hudson location is more central for an event like the drop-off.
"While we have a great studio location in Oak Creek," he says, "the Hudson Business Lounge offers an option for people who may not get down to the south part of Milwaukee County. We’re hoping to have more in various parts of the city."

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
