Capitol Records has reissued a disc that captures performances recorded in Wisconsin by Seattle-based prog metal band Queensryche.
"Operation: Livecrime" was originally released in 1991 in a set that also contained an in-concert VHS video. That package sold more than a quarter-million copies. Now, the disc is available on its own for the first time. A companion DVD is slated for release by Christmas.
"Operation: Livecrime" was recorded over three nights at three Wisconsin concerts in May 1991, including one in Milwaukee and one in Madison. The disc was deleted from the record company's catalog in 1998 and it has been a consistently popular item among rare CD collectors.
Fans will be especially pleased by the inclusion of two previously unreleased tracks on the new issue: "Roads to Madness," recorded in Madison, and "The Lady Wore Black," recorded in Milwaukee.
The accompanying DVD, the band's first, will also be augmented with commentary by Queensryche lead singer Geoff Tate.
This is the second time in the past year that a Milwaukee concert has made the cut for a live LP. A cover of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter," recorded at the Riverside Theatre, was included on Oasis' recent in-concert disc.
