GRAND CHUTE -- Earlier this week, I wrote about the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers -- who open the season tonight against Quad Cities -- and their new affiliation as the Brewers' Class A affiliate.
The Rattlers have a pretty good stockpile of talent, including last year's first and second round draft picks, Brett Lawrie and Cutter Dykstra. Both of them will be in the starting lineup tonight and right-hander Cody Scarpetta getting the start.
In the story, Rattles President Rob Zerjav talked about the effect the new relationship is having on the team; evidenced by a record-setting sellout crowd expected for tonight's game.
The previous opening day record was 3,474 and the team is expecting to blow that mark out of the water. Time Warner Cable Field seats a little over 4,800 in reserved seating with more general admission space available in the outfield corners.
That kind of turnout shows that fans here are just as excited to see the team and the potential future Brewers. On AM 1570 The Score, afternoon host Justin Hull was taking calls from Timber Rattlers fans looking forward to tonight's game. (Shameless self-promotion: I'll be on the show from 5-6 talking about the Brewers; feel free to listen live.)
If you are looking for an alternative to tonight's Brewers-Giants game, the Rattlers' opener will be carried live on Time Warner Sports 32 with Bob Brainerd handling the play-by-play. You can also listen to the radio Web cast with voice of the Timber Rattlers, Chris Mehring.
We won't have a live blog tonight -- and thanks to those that participated in our first two -- but I'll provide Twitter updates throughout the game, so feel free to add me: twitter.com/AndrewWagnerOMC.
