Agloves Capacitive Touch Screen Gloves – If you've ever tried to use your smartphone while wearing gloves, you already know it doesn't work. Sure, you could risk frostbite while your numb digits pound out that crucial Facebook status update, or you could just buy capacitive gloves from ThinkGeek.com. The pair that my favorite gadget eCommerce site sent me is fairly thin, although they've since been replaced by a "sport" style that's thicker and warmer. But they work perfectly, probably due to their sparkly conductive fibers that make them look a little like Michael Jackson gloves. In other words, yes, they look like ladies' gloves, but in the cold Wisconsin winter, we can all agree that fashion takes a backseat to function. Sunday nights at Maxie's Southern Comfort – Recently, Maxie's, 6732 W. Fairview Ave., became more than my destination on Mardi Gras when I learned they have $1 meals for kids on Sunday nights. The kids' menu doesn't feature any of their signature meals like jambalaya or gumbo – this is probably wise, because most kids are too picky for such fare anyway – but does offer their awesome mac 'n' cheese as well as a grilled cheese sandwich, chicken tenders or a cheeseburger, all of which come with fruit or fries. They usually have other specials for grown-ups on Sunday nights, too, including discounted drinks and appetizers. The best part of this dining experience, however, is that mommy gets to wrap up the weekend with a fresh Abita straight from the tap. – Molly Snyder
