Food carts that serve hot dogs, brats and premade sandwiches can be seen all over Milwaukee, but in the past few years those carts have had to make way for larger food trucks that present more options for lunch. Food Dude, The Fast Foodie, Streetza Pizza, Jeppa Joe’s are just a few that offer a variety of food during the busy lunch hour, but what sets them apart can be as simple as a little marketing.

A clean web page with a good social media presence, pictures that present their food in an inviting way and more important, the food you get looks like the food in those professionally shot photographs.

While driving down Wisconsin Avenue by the U.S. Bank building last week I noticed a black truck with a logo that looked very similar to the RUN DMC logo. Curious as to what the food truck offered, I googled ROLL MKE when I got home. Their web page makes a statement and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food looked.

The first photo that popped up was one of the MKE Burger, served with their signature Nueske’s bacon jam. Bacon lovers beware this alone will make you come back, but Roll MKE’s owner Chad Rittgers knows, "We’re going to be the new guy. Everybody wants to try the new guy at least once and if we can show them something that they’re not expecting to see come off a truck then I think they’ll be back."

I know I’ll be back for the Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich. It’s a tasty twist on a grilled cheese that left me more than satisfied. They braise the brisket and use Lakefront Brewery’s Indian Black Ale for extra flavor. But with seven other options on the menu, Roll MKE has something for everyone. Plus the entire meal is only $8!

As one of its slogans says, "Forget your head or your heart listen to your stomach" and listen to today's Kramp Cast with Chad Rittgers, owner of Milwaukee’s newest food truck Roll MKE. Enjoy!
