My charity of choice is the prevention of cruelty to animals, and each month, I make a donation to the ASPCA. So, when I heard about the promotion that Palomino, 2491 S. Superior St., is doing for Sunday's Packers game, my ears perked up like an inquisitive pooch.
It's not the most original idea, and in fact, I'm not the only who has already proclaimed on Twitter that I'll donate $10 for each time the Packers sack convicted dog murderer and Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick.
But Palomino's take on this is a bit more interesting.
If you bring in a photo of you and your dog, bartenders Bill and Katarina (who is also an occasional OnMilwaukee.com blogger) will reward you with a free shot. Then, for each Packers touchdown, they'll each donate $5 toward the Brew City Bully Club. It's an organization that supports community awareness of pit bulls, while working to end dog fighting and more.
Palomino is calling it "Sic 'Em On Vick" and hoping customers pledge along.
Look, Vick served his time and though he revolts me, I'm not about to say that an ex-con can't play and thrive in the NFL. But I don't have to like him, either, especially when he's playing he Packers in the playoffs.
This is one fun way to make an already important game actually mean something, and I'll be there doing my part. Please join me in watching the Packers sack the snot out of Vick – and raise some money for a great cause at the same time.
