One in three Milwaukee families struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their baby clean, dry, and healthy. Thanks to the Milwaukee Diaper Mission and their partners, this statistic is improving. And now, you can help, too, via the Santa Baby Holiday Diaper Drive sponsored by OnMilwaukee, B93.3 and FM102/1.

According to the National Diaper Bank Network, newborns and babies go through approximately eight to 12 diapers a day which costs around $70-80 per month. A donation of $25 would cover (literally, ahem) more than a week of diapers; $50 almost three weeks and $100 more than a month.

There are three ways to donate to the Santa Baby Holiday Diaper Drive benefitting the Milwaukee Diaper Mission:

  • Go here to directly donate online.
  • Text "MDM" to 44321
  • Mail a check to: P.O. Box 211012 Milwaukee, Wis. 53221

After receiving donations, the Mission will then purchase diapers in large amounts to receive a wholesale dsicount and then distribute diapers to their partner organizations. The organizations then give them to the families they serve for free.

The Milwaukee Diaper Mission is based on Milwaukee's South Side and since it started services in September of 2020 has provided more than 150,000 free diapers. To find out more about this group's efforts, go here.

"Milwaukee has thousands of babies and families who lack basic necessities. Thanks to you, more products will be available to support our struggling neighbors," says Meagan Johnson, Milwaukee Diaper Mission's founder and executive director. "Additionally, more people will learn about this critical public health issue and our collective efforts to end diaper need. Together, we can help all children and families in Milwaukee not just survive, but thrive."
