Bucks forward Bobby Simmons underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Monday to remove bone spurs on his right ankle.
The procedure, performed by Richard Ferkel at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, in Van Nuys, Calif., was the first of two stages. The second procedure, which has not yet been scheduled, will be performed on Simmons’ right foot, again by Dr. Ferkel, to address a symptomatic cyst in his heel bone (calcaneus) and plantar fasciitis.
Simmons is expected to miss the remainder of the season, which is the second of a five-year, $47 million contract.
