The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.

Last week, a woman was refused entry to a Greenfield bar because she had a neck tattoo. It is completely legal for bars to instill and enforce dress codes, but some still believe it is discriminatory.

OnMilwaukee.com asked the Social Circle for its thoughts on this. Below is a sampling of responses and for the full thread go here. Feel free to add your opinion via Facebook or the Talkback feature.

Anna Burgett: "Not everyone that has a neck tattoo is a felon."

Richard Chudnow: "We have a similar policy here at Comedy Sportz Milwaukee. ‘We refuse the right to serve everyone.’"

Kat Froelich: "I can’t write what I’m thinking."

Roy Henning: "I own a business and that's total bullshit. Was her money green? Then who gives a crap? Unless it had a racially motivated negative message, those owners are morons. Anyone ever heard the kindergarten message, ‘Don't judge a book by its cover?’"

Sarah Jakubowski: "My husband and I hang out at that bar sometimes. I have tattoos but not on my neck so the rule doesn't apply. Personally, I don't have a problem with it. I think it’s a private business owner's right to set their own rules and if their business suffers, that's the consequence they'll face."

Alan Kiedroski: "That’s crap!"

Jeff Krawczyk: "A bar refused to let someone in because of dress code? Happens all the time."

Jimmy Lemke: "I used to be the doorman at a bar on the Southwest Side and we had the same rule. Usually, if someone is crazy enough to get a neck tattoo, they're going to bring crazy into your bar."

Claudine Lienau: "Stupid!"

Ed Macon: "Well let's go look at the long list of regulations on Water Street, that are way more ridiculous and designed to target minorities."

Ryan Ostler: "It would be hard to make a buck in Reno with that policy. More neck tattoos per capita than anywhere in the world."

Russ Pracieduz: "Did her neck tattoo say ‘Only God Can Judge Me’? Because that would be funny."

John Revord: "Go to a bar that allows neck tattoos. I can only name a thousand."

Shannon Stone: "I am not saying I agree with the dress code but it's a little ridiculous how everyone has some sort of case for discrimination now."

Sven Swensenheimer: "It’s their bar, they can decide."

Mitchell Wakefield: "Mock turtleneck."

Joseph Wilson: "Wrong."
