Two great men have captured the public imagination with the concept of the kind of dreams we all have.

Martin Luther King, Jr., of course, has his famous "I have a dream" speech. And Roy Orbison has captured the moment for me in his song, "In Dreams."

"I close my eyes, then I drift away, into the magic night I softly say," he sang. "A silent prayer, like dreamers do, then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you."

I’ve closed my eyes and drifted into that magic night and dreamt dreams of what might just happen in Wisconsin in the world of sports. Like most dreams, they may seem out of reach.

But, that’s what dreams are for: More hope than expectation.

Even though the head says "no" the heart says, "maybe."

I have a dream that the Green Bay Packers crush the Seattle Seahawks and win the Super Bowl in Phoenix in a thrilling game that comes down to a last second field goal by Mason Crosby.

I have a dream that Ryan Braun hits .357 with 36 home runs and 109 runs batted in. He also has a hitting streak of 49 games, creating more excitement than the circus parade.

I have a dream that somehow John Hammond engineers a trade and the Bucks draft Jahlil Okafor, Duke's freshman center.

I have a dream that a new arena will be built on 4th and Wisconsin and connected to the Wisconsin Center by a skywalk. If we have to knock the old Boston Store down to do it, I say, get the wrecking ball.

I have a dream that Ted Thompson will resist the pressure to draft either Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota with the first round pick. Winston may be gone but Mariota might fall that far, but I don’t think he is the next Aaron Rodgers.

I have a dream that Jason Kidd will wear a tie.

I have a dream the Wisconsin basketball team wins the NCAA tournament.

I have a dream that Marquette makes the NCAA tournament.

I have a dream that Wisconsin finds a quarterback who can actually pass the ball with some measure of success.

I have a dream that someday, someone will tell us the truth about what the heck is up with Larry Sanders who has faded off the court. What the heck are "personal reasons?"

I have a dream that Channel 12 will take a half hour every night at 6:30 to let Drew Olson and Dan Needles talk sports. They are smart, funny and relatively courageous. They would blow radio sports talk out of the water.

I have a dream that they find a number for Bob Harlan and then the Packers put that it up on their wall of fame in Lambeau Field.

I have a dream that Steve Stricker wins the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open or PGA Championship. Especially the PGA because it will be held at Whistling Straits.

I have a dream that Ruth’s Chris will decide to open a place in Downtown Milwaukee next to the new arena.

I have a dream that the new arena will be called The Milwaukee Arena.

I have a dream that the Packers will make A. J. Hawk the linebacker coach (figure it out).

I have a dream that some state legislator has the courage to introduce legislation to ban Mixed Martial Arts in Wisconsin. Failing that, I hope somebody in the city of Milwaukee will do it.

I have a dream that the Milwaukee Wave and the Milwaukee Admirals will find a way to survive against all the odds that are stacked against them.

Finally, I have a dream that all the people who hate me learn to like me.
