The annual Sprecher Root Beer Bash, a free family-friendly event with live entertainment, food, games, free activities, giveaways, and, of course, Sprecher Root Beer floats, takes place Saturday, Aug. 2.

"The world’s largest Root Beer Float Festival" is slated for 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at The Bavarian Bierhaus' Old Heidelberg Park Grounds, 700 W. Lexington Blvd., in Glendale.

In addition to the free Sprecher/Culver's root beer floats – distributed with the help of St. Francis Children's Center (to which you can make a donation) – there will be face painting, henna artists, balloon twisters, petting zoo, live music, bouncy houses, Vibez Creative Art Studio, carnival games and much more.

At 3 p.m., Bavarian Bierhaus will tap a barrel of Zwickel Festbier that it brewed in Glendale with the world’s oldest brewery, Freising, Germany’s Weihenstephan Brewery, founded in 1040. Read more about that here.

“This event brings together everything that makes summer in the North Shore special – community, great music, local flavor and family memories made over a Sprecher and Culvers Root Beer float,” said Becca Petrillo, president of Discover the North Shore.

“We’re proud to partner with Sprecher Brewery to give families a refreshing and unforgettable experience.”
