This morning, Summerfest announced that, with the partnership of Kohl's, Family Day and the Captivation Station will return to the Big Gig for the seventh straight year.
Family Day will take place on Sunday, July 2 from noon until 3 p.m., with the first 2,500 patrons who donate three non-perishable food items for kids receiving one free Summerfest admission ticket (valid the day of only). All of the donations gathered on Family Day will go toward Hunger Task Force.
In addition to Family Day, the Big Gig will also bring back the Kohl's Captivation Station this year, located at the south end of Henry Maier Festival Park and open every day of Summerfest from noon until 7 p.m. Some of the activities hosted at the Captivation Station include:
- Kohl’s Color Wheels, an art-making experience presented by the Milwaukee Art Museum
- Kohl’s Design It! Mobile Lab, featuring hands-on projects highlighting design with Discovery World
- Kohl’s Wild Theater, featuring conservation-themed theatrical performances from the Zoological Society of Milwaukee
- Kohl’s Building Blocks Program, a Penfield Children’s Center program that promotes the health and positive development of children and celebrates their unique abilities
- Kohl’s Cares Grow Safe & Healthy Program, an educational display teaching children and families how to keep safe and healthy with help from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
The Captivation Station will also play host to interactive family-friendly shows and performances from Comedy Sportz, Mad Science, Join In and Dance, and more to be announced. The show schedule for the Captivation Station will be available on Summerfest's website.
