The Great Milwaukee Summer is HERE! Your guide to what you'll be doing, where you'll be drinking, who you'll be hearing and how you'll be getting a sweet tan this summer is on OnMilwaukee. The Great Milwaukee Summer guide is brought to you by Geis Garage Doors and Peoples State Bank

At 3:30 p.m. on the dot, Tiffany walked onto the BMO Pavilion stage at Summerfest, dropped her shoulder bag to the floor and stepped up to the mic. "You guys ready to rock?" she asked casually.

Best known for her 1987 cover of "I Think We're Alone Now," Tiffany – born Tiffany Darwish in 1971 – hasn't topped the charts in decades, but her vocal chops are second to none.

With the accompaniment of a guitar player, keyboardist and electronic drums, Tiffany belted out 10 songs without missing a note. She still dons her signature long red hair – it's no longer crimped, though – and wore a fringe black dress with a flowy overjacket. She did reference her iconic jean jacket look towards the end of the show and added that she was never comfortable wearing denim and pastels, rather that was a decision of the higher ups.

"I loved my perms, though," she said to the crowd, who occupied about one-third of the BMO seating on a sunny, breezy Thursday afternoon.

It must be incredibly challenging at times to be, at 52 years old, still compared to her famous 15-year-old self. But Tiffany seems to take it in stride. Plus, she is clearly confident in the power and precision of her voice and wants to have a good time on stage while interacting with her fans.

Tiffany gained notoriety in 1987 when she embarked on a shopping mall tour backing her No. 1 hit, "I Think We're Alone Now," that was originally recorded by Tommy James and The Shondells in 1967. She went on to record five studio albums and two '80s cover song records.

Tiffany has sold more than 15 million records to date.

Beyond music, Tiffany has a quirky array of public expressions, including posing nude for "Playboy," appearing in numerous reality TV shows including "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling" and acted in a handful of campy horror films. She also appeared in a national AT&T commercial with Meat Loaf and was cast in an episode of "How I Met Your Mother."

Hence, Tiffany – who resides in Nashville, Tenn. – has had no shortage of unique life experiences, a strong sense of humor and a show-stopper of a voice. She is currently on a tour that started in the Midwest and will continue to the United Kingdom, California, Canada and ends in November on Staten Island.

She also launched an online cooking show called, "Let's Food With Tiffany."

"It's more than 30 years later (since her No. 1 single), but I still feel like I'm growing as a person," she said.
