It appears that Sweetgreen, the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain, currently has its eyes on expansion in Wisconsin.

With a mission to build "healthier communities by connecting people to real food", Sweetgreen offers a seasonal menu of salads, grain bowls and other healthful items.

Currently, the company has established over 170 locations across the U.S. But their reach is growing. After going public in Nov. of 2021, the brand focused energy on the Midwest, opening its first locations in Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota.

A representative from Sweetgreen confirmed by email that the company has proposed three locations in the Milwaukee Metro area, as well as one in Madison, Wisconsin. But they refused the opportunity to provide additional details about their plans.

The Corners of Brookfield

According to information from The Corners of Brookfield, construction on Sweetgreen Brookfield, which will be located on Lord Street between Lululemon and Here Chicky Chicky, is slated to begin in spring of 2023 with an opening expected in summer of 2023.

“We are thrilled that we found a partner in Sweetgreen, an ever popular fast-casual salad spot, and know it will be a perfect addition to the Corners and for our customers,"  said Robert Gould, CEO of Brookfield Corners, LLC. "Lord Street will be a great mix of fast casual offerings, with their current neighbors, Fresh Fin and Here Chicky Chicky.”

Next: Tosa & Third Ward?

The Third Ward in Milwaukee may also see a Sweetgreen location if the license is approved for the proposed location at 310 E. Buffalo St. The restaurant would assume operations in the vacant space which formerly housed the Hudson Business Lounge.

Meanwhile, on Jan. 9 the Wauwatosa city plan commission recommended approval for Sweetgreen's proposal to open a location at 7603 W. State St. in the Village of Wauwatosa. The location currently houses the Little Read Book, which has not yet announced plans to close. The Wauwatosa common council is likely to consider the proposal at their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

In addition to locations in Milwaukee Metro, Sweetgreen is also planning a location in Madison, which is expected to open in 2023.
