The Republican National Convention will take place this week in Milwaukee, but the much-anticipated "Daily Show" tapings will no longer be a part of it, as the political commentary show announced it canceled its planned Brew City broadcasts.
"The Daily Show" was expected to broadcast four episodes Monday through Thursday this week from the Marcus Performing Arts Center – but due to the shooting this weekend at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania, the show canceled its scheduled Milwaukee shows. Instead, the show will skip its Monday broadcast altogether and tape Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays shows from their New York studio.
The show also canceled its "InDogCision 2024: Rescuing Democracy" event planned for Sunday in Cathedral Square Park due to this weekend's events.
In its official statements, "The Daily Show" does leave the door open to rescheduled shows in Milwaukee – but no new dates or future plans have been announced yet.
"Our apologies for the inconvenience, but due to logistical issues and the evolving situation in Milwaukee, we need to reschedule our events on the ground in Wisconsin and will look to make those up in the coming weeks," reads a statement from "The Daily Show" posted to social media.
"In light of the incredibly shocking and sad events that took place (this weekend), 'The Daily Show' will no longer broadcast from Milwaukee at the Marcus Performing Arts Center during the Republican National Convention," reads an additional statement from Marcus Center CEO and president Kevin Giglinto. "While we were all looking forward to the events, it is the right thing to do, and we support their decision.
"The safety and well-being of our audience members, guests and staff is the highest priority to the Marcus Performing Arts Center, and 'The Daily Show.' We know that this was not an easy choice to make, but out of respect for the situation and an abundance of caution for everyone, this was a necessary decision."

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
