If you’ve been looking for an excuse to check out Trimborn Farm in Greendale – not that you need one – why not make it the 38th Annual Harvest of Arts & Crafts Weekend, which takes place this week, Sept. 11-12?

More than 110 artists – selected by a jury – and vendors will be on hand for the annual weekend of fun and food at the historic 7.5-acre Milwaukee-area farmstead, 8881 W. Grange Ave.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the historic Trimborn Farm buildings – including two beautiful barns, one stone, the other timber – will house artists and their work.

There will also be food, beer and wine thanks to the Sprecher Beer Garden Fire Truck.

There will also be music and more, including Kettle Korn and the “famous Trimborn Farm cookies.”

Free parking is available on site, but it’s limited, so consider parking at Southridge Mall and taking the free shuttle.

Tickets for the event are $5 and children 10 and under are admitted free.

Before you go, read a history of Trimborn Farm and neighboring Jeremiah Curtin House in this Urban Spelunking article.

Masks are recommended and most of the fair is outdoors.

Educator Mary Jo Knapp of the Milwaukee County Historical Society – which manages the farm – gave me a little tour recently and talked about the Harvest of Arts & Crafts. Watch that here:
