By now you may have heard that after 64 years at 1020 E. Brady St., Joe, Eddie and Teddy Glorioso are moving across the street to 1011 E. Brady St.
The new, 10,000-square foot Glorioso's Italian Market opens next week on Thursday, Dec. 2.
You may not know that in addition to the new grocery store and café (coffee/espresso bar, fresh gelato, expanded bakery and a large wine, spirits and craft beer department too) that the Glorioso family is bringing back the what is believed to be the first pizza place to offer delivery service in the Milwaukee area, Trio's Pizza.
Trio's opened originally at 1st and Mitchell Streets, but after one year the Glorioso brothers moved it to 1016 E. Brady St. Trio's was Milwaukee's third pizza-only establishment, and in 1951 it delivered pies to Milwaukee homes for the first time. The new Glorioso's Italian Market will proudly make, serve and feature Trio's Pizza just like the old Glorioso's did up until 1960.
Personally, I can't wait for the new Glorioso's. It's right down the street from my church and should be a wonderful evolution for one of Milwaukee's iconic family-owned brands.
Speaking of family, Joe Glorioso is 88, Eddie's 86 and Teddy a young 80 years old. There are three generations now working in the family business with Michael, Teddy's son, at the helm as manager.
A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.
He grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Marquette University, as a Warrior. He holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University, and is the founding president of Young Professionals of Milwaukee (YPM)/Fuel Milwaukee.
Early in his career, Sherman was one of youngest members of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, and currently is involved in numerous civic and community groups - including board positions at The Wisconsin Center District, Wisconsin Club and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. He's honored to have been named to The Business Journal's "30 under 30" and Milwaukee Magazine's "35 under 35" lists.
He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
