Fight the FOMO with our guide to the Great Milwaukee Summer. We've got the hottest places to eat, drink, hang out, and all the things you love to do. Brought to you by Geis Garage Doors and UPAF (United Performing Arts Fund)!

While the group may be about "Strictly Business," hip hop non-profit TRUE Skool is combining business and entertainment by bringing iconic rap duo EPMD to the Peck Pavilion at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts this weekend.

The performance is part of TRUE Skool’s Summer Park Jam, a free event celebrating hip hop culture. The free all-day party will take place on Saturday, September 9th, and will feature food trucks, a mobile skatepark, as well as graffiti spray walls with local artists and vendors representing Milwaukee businesses.

Guests can also check out a turntable tent with hands-on DJ lessons. Whether you're new to scratching or just curious about the element of hip hop, the booth gives attendees a chance to try their hands at scratching with nobody sweating your technique. A car show and kid-friendly activities are also planned, along with breakdancing and graffiti battles that will bring in talent from throughout the Midwest. The event blends hip hop and community in a unique outdoor setting.

Before the celebration, TRUE Skool will also host their CEO Sessions on Friday, August 8th. The session puts a hip hop lens on business strategies, with EPMD members Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith as special guests. The event is designed to help artists and creatives build sustainable careers.

TRUE Skool says the downtown event aligns with Milwaukee’s broader goals for talent attraction and retention. Based in Downtown Milwaukee, the organization works to engage, educate and empower youth and families through transformative creative arts and hip hop culture.

For the full schedule of events, details are available on the TRUE Skool website.
