Calling all Milwaukee student artists.

This Christmas and holiday season, aspire to make bad become beautiful on Milwaukee's East Side.

On Dec. 12, student artists, enrolled in an accredited art program in the Milwaukee area, will have five hours (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) to complete a holiday mural on the storefront windows of participating East Side establishments.

But, here's the catch -- an assigned ugly Christmas sweater must be the inspiration for each of the murals. Sweaters and supplies will be provided. That's right, ugly sweater art.

Judging will take place that day by art world notables. Winners will get cool prizes and the chance for local fame, since you'll get a mention on OnMilwaukee.com.

Teams must sign up before Nov. 23, and space is limited.

Applications can be found at theeastside.org. For more information e-mail Julia@freighttraincreative.com or call (414) 226-2113.
