According to several real estate sources, Ultimate Electronics, a Colorado-based consumer electronic retailer with 31 locations nationwide, is looking to expand into Wisconsin and the greater Milwaukee area.
What began as a mom and pop store is now owned by Mark Wattles, founder of Hollywood Video. Currently, the stores closest to the Badger state include six in Minnesota and one in Fairview Heights, Ill.
According to the company's Web site, "Every day we shop Walmart and Best Buy, then adjust our prices to beat theirs." Ultimate Electronics sells everything from appliances to computers, TVs, video games, billiards and portable devices. Its Web site offers full e-commerce.
Downtown is without a "big box" consumer electronic retailer. Personally, I think Ultimate Electronics would be a great addition.
Calls and e-mails to the company's Thornton, Colo., headquarters were not returned.
