The Journal Sentinel is providing in-depth coverage of the World Cup, with daily stories, notes and blog items from soccer reporter Charles Gardner, who is in Germany.

That's commendable.

Closer to home, the paper is not staffing the NBA Finals -- despite the fact that there are two players with strong local ties: Miami guard Dwyane Wade is beloved by Marquette fans and Dallas guard Devin Harris, a graduate of Wauwatosa East, played in college at the University of Wisconsin.

That's surprising.

(UPDATE June 13: It appears that Tom Enlund is in Miami and will be covering the middle games of the series.)
