Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.

At least in the mind of the New York Times.  Times reporter Pete Thamel proves that old habits and nicknames die hard as he blogs the Big East Tournament at nyt.com.  In Thamel's preview, he picks Georgetown to win the tourney but gives "The Warriors" 10 to 1 odds...

No. 6 Marquette (23-8, 10-6) The Warriors have lost four of their past six, but did beat Pittsburgh at home on Saturday. The health of Jerel McNeal’s thumb could mean an early exit. Odds: 10 to 1.

As a proud Marquette graduate, I like to say that "We are Marquette" and nicknames don't matter too much.  But, I find it funny and somewhat rewarding that, after more than 10 years, "Golden Eagles" still doesn't fly.  Go Marquette!
