The Washington Park Library, 2121 N. Sherman Blvd., is closed today due to an incident that occurred outside.

According to Milwaukee Public Library spokesperson Eileen Force Cahill, shots were fired outside and one of the bullets struck the library glass on the Lloyd Street side.

“No one was hurt,” said Force Cahill, “but staff was shaken and there’s an investigation going on, so it just made sense to close for the day.”

MPL posted about the closure on social media.

The library is expected to reopen on Friday with normal hours.
